Two hours from Piazza Venezia to Navona

Rome Walking Tour: Trevi, Pantheon and Navona

About this experience

Republic Experiences runs this under the Carpe Diem Tours flag. Your guide waits on Piazza d'Aracoeli, at the foot of the Capitoline, under the pine trees in the middle of the little park, holding a yellow flag. Arrive 10 minutes early: late arrivals get no refund. From there it's two hours on foot through the centre, in a group of 15 at most.

The route on the listing: Piazza Venezia (20 minutes), Trajan's Forum (15), the Trevi Fountain (20), the Galleria Sciarra (10), the church of Sant'Ignazio (15), the Pantheon (20) and Piazza Navona (15). Two of those are the stops people remember. The Galleria Sciarra is a glass-roofed courtyard covered in 1880s Art Nouveau frescoes by Giuseppe Cellini, a short step from Trevi. At Sant'Ignazio you stand on a marker in the floor and look up at Andrea Pozzo's painted dome, which is a flat ceiling.

Now the honest part. The listing excludes "Access to the Pantheon", and a 5-star guest repeats it: no entry, and no close access to Trevi either. You get 20 minutes on Piazza della Rotonda and the story of the building. It's also on cobblestones for two hours and not wheelchair accessible. Pair it with a 45-minute guided visit or a timed ticket if you want to go in.

  • Seven stops in two hours, from Piazza Venezia to Piazza Navona
  • The Galleria Sciarra's frescoed courtyard, a stop most visitors miss
  • Andrea Pozzo's painted fake dome in Sant'Ignazio
  • Groups of 15 at most
  • From $19, the cheapest guided walk here

What guests say

★★★★★

We started near Piazza Venezia and made our way through the Roman Forum. From there, we stopped at the Trevi Fountain and enjoyed some yummy gelato. Next was the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola, where we popped in for some great photo opportunities, followed by the Pantheon, a former temple turned church.

She taught us how best to get around using side streets to help with the crowds, drink from the public fountains, and most importantly where the best restaurants and gelato were!

We took this tour on our very first day in the city, after a long flight, but Sharon was so interesting and engaging that we had no problems staying awake and attentive.

Sharon was friendly and informative. Keep in mind that this tour does not provide entry to the Pantheon or close access to Trevi Fountain.
